Pack and Module Mechanical Design Engineer

We're looking for a detail-oriented Pack and Module Mechanical Design Engineer to create precise technical drawings, optimize designs for manufacturability, and ensure compliance with critical industry standards. Your job duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and refine mechanical concepts for battery packs and modules, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and efficiency.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis and optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Design key pack components, including structural elements, enclosures, pack assemblies.
  • Create detailed 2D technical drawings and manufacturing documentation following industry standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams for seamless system integration.
  • Support prototyping and testing, refining designs based on real-world performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as UL 1973, IEC 62619, and UN 38.3.
  • Develop fire safety strategies, incorporating thermal propagation mitigation and heat dissipation methods.
  • Work closely with suppliers to optimize designs for cost-efficiency, scalability, and manufacturability.
  • Set up and manage PLM systems for efficient product lifecycle management.
  • Create and maintain BOMs for battery pack and module components.

Position requirements:

  • 3+ years in battery pack/module mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
  • Strong knowledge of tolerance analysis and structural design.
  • Experience in designing enclosures, thermal systems, and mechanical supports.
  • Familiarity with ESS relevant standards (e.g. UL 1973, IEC 62619, UN 38.3).
  • Experience with manufacturing technologies, such as Plastic injection molding, Laser/ultrasonic welding, Stamping/roll forming, Dispensing (glue/potting, thermal interface materials)
  • Professional English (B2) for documentation and communication.
