Cell Process Development Manager

Responsibilities:
- Process Development and Optimization: Manage daily engineering operations by following the product life cycle and addressing quality failures, technical breakdowns, and scrap issues from the start to the end of the production line. Drive continuous improvement of existing cell manufacturing processes to enhance performance, yield, and efficiency, while focusing on cost reduction and waste minimization.
- Technology Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality, to integrate new materials, technologies, and methods into the manufacturing process. Ensure smooth scaling from pilot projects to mass production. Actively participate in daily production meetings with other teams to lead and resolve engineering challenges.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Design and conduct electrochemical and chemical tests to understand material degradation mechanisms and their impact on cell performance and aging. Analyze electrochemical data and material characteristics to identify optimization pathways and improve battery reliability. Utilize statistical methods and process data to monitor trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions for ongoing process improvements. Regularly report progress, challenges, and key outcomes of process development activities to senior management, contributing to strategic decision-making and operational planning.
- Customer Support: Provide critical technical support during customer calls and meetings. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: addressing technical inquiries, understanding customer requirements, translating complex concepts into clear language, assisting in RFQ submissions, acting as a liaison between the Product Development and Cell Performance teams, facilitating communication to align client needs with technical design considerations, ultimately contributing to project success and client satisfaction.
- Battery technology updates: Stay current with the latest advancements in battery technology, and related fields by monitoring literature, attending conferences, and networking with experts in the field to ensure the incorporation of cutting-edge practices.
- Collaboration with External Partners: Work closely with external partners, suppliers, and collaborators to secure high-quality materials and optimize production processes for both efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute to the Development of Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy and Patent Filings: Engage actively in generating innovative ideas and insights that contribute to the development of a company’s IP strategy. Provide valuable input and expertise to support the formulation of comprehensive IP strategies aligned with our business objectives.
- Training and mentorship: Mentor junior scientists and engineers, guiding them in various aspects of research and development. Offer technical guidance, facilitate skill development, and provide career guidance to ensure the professional growth and success of team members. Foster a learning environment that upholds a culture of integrity and excellence, contributing to the long-term success of the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering.
- Several years of experience in developing battery cell manufacturing processes.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
