Director of Internal Finances

The primary goal of this position is to lead corporate accounting and controlling functions by ensuring the establishment of internal controls, compliance, and reporting according to the best practices and statutory requirements, including full compliance with IFRS.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

1. Greenfield Accounting Architecture & Systems

  • Design and implement a comprehensive set of accounting policies and internal control procedures from the ground up.
  • Act as the implementation Lead for the company-wide ERP implementation, ensuring the system architecture supports detailed cost accounting and IFRS reporting needs.
  • Validate the migration of financial data into the new ERP and define the user acceptance testing protocols for the finance module.

2. Manufacturing Setup & Costing

  • Lead the setup of accounting and tracking systems for a new manufacturing plant, e.g., establishing approval matrices, segregation of duties, and internal controls.
  • Establish strict inventory tracking and valuation methods of costing for raw materials and finished battery cells.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all production inputs and finished battery cells in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
  • Oversee the capitalization and depreciation of high-value factory machinery in compliance with the IFRS standards.

3. IFRS & Group Compliance

  • Lead the transition from IFRS for SME to full IFRS, making sure all historical data and future reporting align with full international standards.
  • Develop group reporting procedures at the Luxembourg level.
  • Oversee strict adherence to Serbian tax laws and statutory requirements.
  • Manage all external audits.
  • Oversee tax planning and relevant policy implementation.

4. Team Leadership

  • Set-up of the full Accounting and Controlling team.
  • Contribute to the set-up of other roles/teams within internal accounting department.

Position Requirements & Competencies

Professional Background:

  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Manufacturing controlling experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in setting up internal control procedures, accounting policies and systems.
  • Hands-on expertise in leading or playing a key role in ERP system implementation.

Technical Expertise & Attributes:

  • Expert knowledge of COSO frameworks or similar methodologies for designing internal control environments.
  • IFRS implementation and transition from IFRS for SME to full IFRS.
  • Technical Accounting Knowledge and Risk management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, Leadership, and Integrity.
  • Global mindset and ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
  • ACCA charter holder is a strong plus.
  • Full fluency in Serbian and English languages (native, bilingual or at least full professional proficiency).
